1981 New Zealand spec BJ40

We are offering this BJ40 for a client from Colorado that lived and worked in New Zealand for a period of time. It’s inevitable that spending time in a place like New Zealand is going to result in one obtaining a small Land Cruiser collection. I’ve done it myself! This BJ40 was imported along with its mate, an HJ60 (also for sale on our site) when the client moved back to Colorado. Both Cruisers have Colorado titles.

This Land Cruiser is currently on site at PRLC. It hasn’t been given an official inspection, but I did drive it about 10 miles for photographs. There’s something about driving an all original BJ40 from New Zealand or Australia that’s just cool.  I immediately was taken back to times I’ve spend driving around in the outback. The 40 drives just like you would expect a 1981 BJ40 to drive. It’s a pure Diesel 40 series Land Cruiser driving experience.

This Land Cruiser received a respray at some time in its previous home in New Zealand. It shows signs of “less than average” but typical rust, somewhat improperly repaired, before the repaint. The areas are all showing back through, but indicate that the 40 is in better shape than lots of them for the age. I’ve included pictures of all of these areas.

As always, this vehicle is available for an inspection during business hours at Proffitt’s Resurrection Land Cruisers. Interested buyers can also request an inspection by our technicians.
