There are plenty of FJ60s and FJ62s out there with the same problem this FJ60 had: roof rust. Roof rust happens when the seam sealer in the rain gutter of a 60 Series Land Cruiser is compromised and water begins entering the complicated layers where the roof attaches to the body. There is no corrosion protection between those layers, so the water makes its way around the roof and rust begins separating the roof from the body. When this happens, there is only one solution: total roof replacement.
This FJ60 has been at the shop a few times. First, we installed a Cummins R2.8 in it in 2019. Five or six years later, we sold it through our for-sale page to its current owner, who sent it back to us to eliminate the roof rust once and for all. Off came the rusty roof, and on went the roof from a donor FJ60. Roof rust fixed—correctly!
