FJ45s are cool. Something about the rugged design of a 45 makes most people long to get behind the wheel of one and go to the lumber yard.
Like FJ40s, 45s didn’t get “really” drivable until 1976. That’s when the model got, among other things, the 2F engine, 4-speed transmission, and disc brakes up front. But the FJ45 was only sold in the US through 1967, and there weren’t many of them at that.
That’s where imports fill the void. Normally I would favor a domestic model over an import, but in this case there just isn’t one. If you want a later-model FJ45, an import is your only choice.
This 1978 FJ45 is an import from Venezuela. It was “restored” there and, for that reason, has a lot of the issues common with South American imports. It has its quirks, and I would be happy to explain what that means to any interested party.
The engine is strong, and the vehicle runs and drives. As always, this Land Cruiser is at the shop and is available for a test drive and inspection by appointment.
