Sold1986 FJ60
60 series Land Cruisers are still in high demand, and I’ve noticed a void in the 60 series market. That void? The “decent” FJ60 or FJ62 that isn’t a total rust bucket, but also isn’t worth 35K plus. This 60 is one that falls in that void. It’s still almost all original and sports its original drivetrain and interior, both in good shape. There is some rust, but definitely not as bad as they get. This 60 is a good candidate for a restoration or would be great as a daily as is. Mileage is just under 200K Once word gets out on this one, it won’t last long. We haven’t given this 60 a mechanical inspection, but I’ve driven it and it runs and drives well. The AC doesn’t work, but it’s still the old Freon system and my guess is a retrofit to 134 and a charge is all it needs.
Sold1998 FZJ75 Land Cruiser Pickup
70 series Land Cruiser pickups are incredibly popular right now. This 1998, LHD GCC spec. version has a removable hardtop and is the last year of the model. When these trucks arrive in the United States, they are usually due some maintenance. The owner of this truck was attacking the needed attention. Among other things, he replaced the radiator and the transfer case. We have not given this truck a mechanical inspection, but my test drive for photography went well and I didn’t notice any immediate immediate needs. Sold2009 HZJ79 / 80 series Custom Land Cruiser pickup.
This truck sold before I could even post it on the website, so rather than describe it, I’ll tell you the story of how this truck, and others like it came to be. In 2009, we bought 55 of these bodies from a company based out of Dubai. They had set up a shop in Mexico manufacturing armored personal carriers for the Middle East. We worked with the company on disassembly and some other technical aspects of their product and wound up purchasing all of the surplus bodies. Over the years, we built 15 or 20 of these vehicles on different Land Cruiser chassis for clients. 60 series chassis, 80 series chassis, Toyota diesels and V8 gas engines were all used. A couple of the vehicles we built were high profile with probably the most famous being the red one we built for Cummins for the 2018 SEMA show. When we joined forces with Larry H Miller, a dozen or so of the bodies were used as a display in the Land Cruiser heritage Museum. With a dwindling market for these trucks, several of the bodies were sold to companies in Canada for mine use. A few years ago, only a few of these bodies remained in our inventory, and we sold one of them to the company that built this example. If you’ve ever talked to me about one of these projects, I know you’ve heard me say the following fact. “These are definitely a lot more work than you think they would be” Today we are getting more and more requests for these trucks, but the last two bodies are currently being built in the shop for clients at this time. We would be happy to build you a custom vehicle like this. Sourcing bodies, even four-door ones is getting easier to do.
Sold1990 FJ75 Troopy, Troop Carrier Land Cruiser
On consignment is this 1990 FJ75 troopy. It has a 4.5L 1FZ and five speed transmission. We recently installed a new fuel pump and the vehicle runs and drives as well. The exterior was refinished by Starwood Motors in 2 part polyurea spray liner. This left-hand drive troopy features factory locking differentials.

Custom FJ43 This FJ43 is a Colombian restoration that we customized for a client. The cosmetic work was done in Colombia before it was imported. It was mostly stock mechanically when we started working on it. Although we haven’t performed any cosmetic work on the Land Cruiser, we’ve been through all of the systems mechanically and it’s basically completely new or rebuilt. SoldUS Spec 1983 FJ40 Toyota Land Cruiser
1983 US FJ40 One of about 600 sold in the US in 1983. This survivor FJ40 (on consignment) still has most of its original paint with only the top being refinished at some point . There is some rust on the body but certainly less than average. Like too many 40s, somebody got their hands on it early and cut the rear quarter panels for flares. This is a bummer but certainly reversible. for some reason when the top was painted, the interior of the 40 was sprayed with two part poly urea spray liner. It appears to be professional high pressure spray application. Mechanically the Land Cruiser runs and drives well. We haven’t given it any kind of mechanical inspection, but we will be happy to do so on request This FJ40 is at the shop and available for test drive and inspection by appointment. Sold1986 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60
1986 FJ60 FJ60s have become very popular over the last 10 years or so, and the result of that is that many of them have been built and modified. In fact, it’s getting harder and harder to find ones that haven’t, so it is a relief to find one like this it’s a nearly stock condition. With just under 163,000 miles, this FJ60 is a great example of the model. It has been in storage for a number of years, but prior to that, received a refurbishment. The exterior was refinished and the front seats were recovered in factory replica cloth. Mechanically, the land Cruiser runs and drives great. It appears to have been well taken care of with no signs of neglect. We are currently redoing the rear brakes, which had seized while sitting in storage. I know, I know, it’s not a Land Cruiser. I’m Selling my Toyota 86 because I just never drive it and need room in my garage. 44,000 miles and in excellent shape. No accidents. Japanese 1.5” lowering coil overs, aftermarket turbo, and aftermarket wheels. Tuned and running great, this car is very quick. I have the original wheels and tires that go with it. SoldFJ40 Stage 3 Restomod
This 1971 FJ40 Restomod is a body-off custom restoration done by Resurrection Land Cruisers and completed about 10 years ago. We built it for a long time owner who really loved the vehicle. He had a specific vision for it, to be on and off-road capable as he lives in California near the Rubicon Trail. The build has an off-road focus with front and rear lockers, a 4:1 transfer case, winch, full cage, and more, but the owner also wanted it to be highway friendly. The fuel injected Ram Jet 350 and five speed manual transmission, combined with an extended wheelbase, power steering, and improved suspensio allow it to be great on the road too. This build is a little dated compared to some of our current projects but still holds up really well. The full list of features is below. Sold1973 FJ40 Toyota Land Cruiser
Looking for a project? This FJ40 is like Freddie Mercury, It needs somebody to love. I bought it as a potential builder, as I do many Land Cruisers. It’s got its issues, but way too much potential to be parted out. Here’s what I like, in no particular order. 1973 was the first year for bucket seats in the FJ40. They were a HUGE improvement from the bench seats from previous years where the driver wasn’t even aligned with the steering wheel. Not only does it have them, they are capped with the coveted early headrest, which I’ve only seen a couple times in person. I know this sounds fictitious, but I could sell just the seats and headrests from this rig for or more. They are that in demand. 1973 didn’t have disc brakes yet, but they did have power brakes, and a dual circuit brake master cylinder, so adding front discs is easy. Then, there’s the doors and hood. It’s getting really hard to find early FJ40s that have a solid one piece hood, and solid doors. This one has them. (The rear doors are trashed. but there’s a really good set in the back that are included with the 40) The top and topsides are in good nick too. There’s a unique winch on the rig, a Sidewinder. The Sidewinder winch has a horizontal spool with a vertical hawse type fairlead. I’ve only seen a couple of them, and they are a collector’s item. Lastly, this 40 has something that always makes me giddy when I find one, the original trouble light tucked inside the glove box. What’s a bummer is that the tub itself is a little more rusted out than usual. It’s got all of the typical rust on the rear sill (already poorly swapped out and needing replaced) as well as the quarter panel corners and rocker panels, but it’s also got rust all of the way down the wheel tops where they meet the quarter panels. Lot’s of times this part is solid. Don’t get me wrong, all of this rust is fixable and the 40 DOES NOT NEED a whole tub. It’s just maybe 20-30 hours more metal work than a better than average one. The other fairly major bummer is the installation of the SBC engine that someone did. It does look like a fairly fresh engine. We haven’t tried starting it, but I imagine that it would run and drive with a couple hours of tinkering. The price for this FJ40 is That’s crazy fair so it’s firm. SoldExcellent Builder 1975 FJ40
This FJ40 project is on consignment and a great start for someone looking to build an FJ40. It’s nearly complete, almost rust free, and can be had for less than the cost of a high quality replacement tub! No basket case here. This FJ40 is solid and complete except for the engine. It was disassembled and all of the parts have been stored indoors. The white paint is original, so there are no surprises. If you want a project, stay away from sketchy imports and potential basket cases, and buy this 40. You won’t regret it.
SoldThe Holy Grail! 1983 US Spec FJ40 w/ OEM PS and AC
This is the real deal, a survivor 1983 FJ40 with the coveted factory options of power steering and air conditioning. 1 of an estimated 50, this FJ40 is an appreciating asset and needs to go the a great home. This FJ40 is a true survivor, and has managed to make it from 1983 all of the way to 2025 without having any significant modifications. It retains most of its original paint and is virtually rust free. it runs strong and drives very well. The experience is like going back in time. I’ve been asked by several people, what would I do with it? Here is the list. First of all at some point someone painted the OEM bumper and rear bumperettes white. That needs to be remedied. In fact, I’ve already ordered a new bumper and bumperettes from Toyota to replace them. I’ve also ordered a front OEM license plate frame. Just replacing those few, simple items is going to make a big visual difference in the vehicle. The cosmetic work could stop there, but there’s a 2nd level that I would probably also do. There is a very small area of rust just under the four-wheel-drive emblem. This area is reported to have been the same for 30 years. I would address this area of rust and while I was at it, I would remove the two aftermarket antennas in the rear quarter panels, and do minimal bodywork and paint to reset all of this to stock. Mechanically, this Land Cruiser doesn’t have any urgent needs, but I would give it a good mechanical inspection, and correct whatever minor issues I found. I would also likely perform a front knuckle rebuild, as pretty much every Land Cruiser needs one of these. It is important to note that at some point, the bib, front fenders and hood of this Land Cruiser were refinished. I’ve inspected the components and I am convinced that they are the original sheet metal. There are no signs of an accident or bodywork on them, so my guess is they were just refinished because of rock chips. The front seats also have been recovered, and they feel like they have new foam in them. This beautiful FJ40 is located at the shop and is available for inspection and test drive by appointment.

PRLC Completed a Stage 3 Body-off restomod on this 1969 FJ40 in the summer of 2020. It is one of our signature builds with no expense spared. The Cruiser was featured at the SEMA show in Las Vegas in the fall of 2021. It’s not very often that our stage three restorations come up for sale, especially when they are the more true-to-Toyota DNA restorations. As a matter fact, this is only the second mostly stock 40 series restoration that we have consigned in the last 10 years. It was completed last year and the owner found that his intended use for the vehicle doesn’t really match what it’s built for. In his words, “It’s too nice for me to use the way I wanted to” This is not the first time that we’ve heard this from a client, and despite the fact that our restorations are actually meant to be driven, we couldn’t convince him to keep it and continue using it! My A Toyota Boat on a Cruiser site? Why not!? If for no other reason, it will help to further confuse the telemarketers and website designers that send us spam emails all of the time confusing us with a cruise line (it happens a lot for some reason) This Toyota Epic 22 is for sale. It is my second Toyota Boat and I can’t begin to explain how much I love it. Powered by the legendary 1UZ, these boats are incredibly well engineered and reliable. Why am I selling? Well, because the technology in wake surfing boats has come so far in the last 10 years. the boats have gotten much bigger and the hull designs have changed drastically. SoldCustom Stretched All Steel All Toyota 1972 FJ40
Dubbed “The Bilstein Crawler,” we built this one-of-a-kind FJ40, off road focused Land Cruiser in 2017. It was debuted in the Bilstein shocks bbooth that year at the SEMA show and placed in the Top Ten in the Hot Rod & Truck Division of SEMA Battle of the Builders. The following year, the Land Cruiser traveled to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the Global Auto Salon. Then it was sold to its current owner, who has cosigned it with us for sale. Some modifications were made for the current owner, the largest being the addition of an OEM replica soft top and full front doors (more pictures coming soon). We also replaced the 3FE with a rebuilt and cosmetically restored 2F as well as the addition of a swing-out Gerry can holder on the rear bumper. The wheels and tires were also replaced with a slight smaller and more road friendly 37×17 tire with a steel non-beadlock wheel. SoldRefurbished 1969 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40
This 1969 is on consignment and is located at PRLC. It’s been modernized with a 2F and 5 speed, OEM FJ40 bucket seats, and more. I’ve driven it about 15 miles and it’s a pretty decent driver. There is rust present on the front fenders, but the rest of the 40 appears very solid. Straight Outta the Land Cruiser Heritage Museum, this Toyota Blizzard LD20 is located at Proffitt’s Resurrection Land Cruisers in Colorado and is available for sale. This LD20 is a factory hard top model and has low miles. Even though it doesn’t have a turbo, it’s actually really fun to drive and does better than you would expect in the mountains of Colorado. Sold1960 FJ25 Blank Slate
The FJ25, predecessor to the FJ40, holds a special place in Toyota Land Cruiser history. It was this model, released in the mid 1950s, that set Toyota apart in its quest to build rugged and dependable off-road vehicles. The legacy continued with the 40 series through the mid 80s, and it continues today. The FJ25 shares a lot of its looks with the FJ40, but has several unique body features that really set it apart. The most noticeable is the front bib, which features separate chrome headlight bezels, and a 3 bar chrome grille. There are also the T shaped hood ornament, unique air intake, rounded rear wheel well opening, and more. Mechanically, the 25 is set up with an early F inline 6 cylinder engine, and surprisingly, a 4 speed transmission and 1 speed transferase with no low range. The rear differential is also curiously “centered” causing a unique rear driveline angle. This FJ25 is the straightest and most rust free example I’ve ever seen. Other than the small spots of primer, it’s all original paint. It’s relatively complete and a good candidate for a restoration or restomod.

This 1983 BJ46 is a good example of a very rare 40 series model Land Cruiser. Exclusive to the Japanese market, this model came with a 3B 4 cylinder diesel engine and five speed manual transmission. It was the only mid wheel base 40 series offered with a factory hardtop. It also came from the factory with some other unique features including: Air conditioning, power steering, intermittent windshield wipers, a hood release cable, forward facing rear passenger seats, four three point retractable seatbelts, carpet, ambulance door panels, and interior plastic trim. This particular one has 254k km and sports a 2 1/2 inch Old Man Emu lift and an aftermarket turbo. This survivor 1978 FJ40 with only 66,000 original miles spent most of it’s life here on the Western Slope of Colorado. It has aged far better than most FJ40s and was lucky enough to have kept almost all of its original Toyota DNA. The only major modification was the addition of an OME 2.5″ lift and 33X10.50 tires, which is a common upgrade. The Land Cruiser sports all of its original paint and even upholstery. Cosmetically, the Cruiser is still very presentable, with minimal rust. The only big bummer is the damage to the passenger side fender. This FJ40 needs a special owner who will use it, while appreciating it’s originality. SoldAll Original One Of A Kind 1983 FJ40 LX
OK, I’ll admit to being a little obsessed with this one. It’s got so much going on that’s interesting to hard core Toyota enthusiasts like me. First of all, It’s a rare LX model, imported from Saudi a long time ago. The LX models were unique to Japan, Australia, and the Middle East. They were the “deluxe” FJ (and BJ) 40s and they had features that we never got here in the states. There’s different windows and window weatherstripping, chrome accents, interior options that were rare or even completely custom from Toyota, different color options, and more. If you are an FJ40 enthusiast and are familiar with the US model, look these pictures over and you will find surprise after surprise. They are just plain cool. On top of all that, this one has survived all these years without modification, and it’s in GREAT SHAPE! It’s virtually all original with very little rust, and it runs and drives very well. There’s an interesting story too. As far as I understand, it was part of a custom order of Land Cruisers placed by members of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Saudi Arabia in 1983. Most of the rigs obviously went to Saudi elites, but this one was different. There was an American pilot who flew for the organization, and he got in on the order. He was a Colorado native, and placed the Colorado bumper stickers on the rig when it was new. How cool is that?! This one shouldn’t last long and my 4 year old son and I are so infatuated with it, I can’t believe I’m even willing to pass it on. If you are interested, you might want to act quickly. The price is
Sold1978 Colombian Import FJ40
This 1978. FJ40 was in imported from Columbia. There it received what I would characterize as a typical Colombian refurbishment. It is cosmetically presentable, but far from perfect. Mechanically, it fires up, runs and drives with no glaring issues. I want to be 100% candid. These imports show up on “classic car” dealership sites and at auction all the time. They get misrepresented by their sellers and hit the hands of unsuspecting buyers all the time. I wish these people were more honest, and the market was more educated, but they aren’t, and I’ve seen lots of people get burned on these vehicles. The problem is not the vehicles themselves, but rather the sellers of them. They either blatantly lie about the quality of the “Restoration” or they just play dumb, and don’t disclose the issues that they have. Caring about Land Cruisers and the people that drive them so much, It makes me sick to my stomach. So, I’m going to be 100% honest about this vehicle, as I am all of them, and hopefully we can find a new home for it at a fair price for both parties. This Fj40 is far better mechanically than lots of them that I’ve seen in the same situation. I think it would be a great “townie” vehicle for somebody or maybe a mountain Cruiser. It’s very difficult to a find rust free and LHD Toyota 45 series Troopy. This Land Cruiser is restored, but mostly mechanically stock, retaining its 3B, all mechanical inline 4 cylinder diesel. This FJ62 is currently located at the shop. There has been previous rust repair and paint done to the rear quarter panel of this FJ62. The work appears to have been done well. To make this Land Cruiser a true collector, the roof rust must be addressed. Even though it looks extensive, roof rust is actually a reasonably easy problem to fix. Definitely less complex and expensive than if the rust were on the wheel wells and quarter panels. PRLC estimates the cost of a complete roof replacement and refinish at about 10K. SoldSuper Clean 1980 FJ40
This is a good one! Pretty much anytime I see an FJ40 for sale that has been “repainted”, I’m initially very skeptical. There are simply way too many shortcut having, hacked out, bad restored FJ40s out there. That’s why when someone calls me and asks if we will help sell their Land Cruiser, and they tell me that they had it restored or repainted, I reserve judgment until I see the vehicle in person. this Fj40 was no exception, I told the seller that it looked pretty good in the pictures, but that I would have to see it in person before I helped them establish a value. They agreed and shipped the 40 to the shop, and I have to say that I’m blown away. This FJ40 has an excellent paint job. On top of that, a close inspection revealed that the vehicle was in excellent condition before the refinish work was done. I couldn’t find any evidence of rust on the backside of the rear sill, or the floor, or the rocker panels. All areas where later FJ40s start to deteriorate. This Land Cruiser is extremely solid. On top of that, this example is also very original. It’s rare to find an FJ40 this unaltered. the only deviations that stand out, are the non-factory, but very cool, upholstery, and the aftermarket center console. The stock drive train appears to be in great shape, and the vehicle runs and drives very well. All of that being said, there are a few things about this FJ40 that I would change. These are minor and I only mentioned them so that viewers understand just how picky I am, and also how nice this Fj40 really is. The first thing is that the person who refinished the Land Cruiser chose to paint the original hood latches rather than replace them. The paint on them is good, but these components are still available new from Toyota, and I would rather have the OEM zinc ones then ones that were painted silver. Small thing, yes I know. The other change that I would make, obviously, are the wheels and tires. Land Cruisers has the factory suspension and factory tire size. The spare is missing, but the four wheels that are on it or actually the factory wheels, but un restored. If this were mine, I would procure a matching spare wheel, powder coat, all of the wheels OEM gray, and install new tires. Either 31 1050s, if I didn’t lift the vehicle, or 33 1050s in combination with a 2 1/2 inch Old Man Emu lift. on top of that, I would probably just repair the vinyl on the side of the driver seat. I know that the upholstery itself isn’t original. But I dig it. This Land Cruiser needs to go to a special owner. I am not keen to sell it to someone who is going to do drastic modifications. Mention putting an LS3 in it to me, and I might hang up on you 🙂 I say that in jest, but really, this one is a great survivor. This truck has the trifecta! Diesel, double cab, and left hand drive. It’s unfathomable why they were never offered in the US. But this one is here, legally imported and ready to go. This HiLux has just over 150,000 miles and was being used as a daily driver. Mechanically, it is solid, but we haven’t given it an official inspection yet. It’s got moderate rust on the rocker panels, but it’s actually better in person than you think. All in all, it’s a good example of this model, and cool as heck. This HiLux is located at the shop. SoldThe Banana, a 1980 JDM BJ41
Have you ever bought something and then thought “Why on earth did I do that?” Well, that’s where I’m at right now with The Banana, and you can be there too! The Banana came to us for some insurance work, but circumstances led up to the work not being done, and us buying the cruiser. All joking aside, The Banana does have a lot to offer the right buyer, and it’s priced right too. This BJ41 was involved in a rear end collision, and the frame and rear sill are bent. This is relatively easily fixed, as the frame channels are available aftermarket, as are the rear sills. The problem is that this work, done correctly, is going to be expensive enough to where it’s going to exceed the value of the Land Cruiser. Why? Well, because it turns out that bananas can rust. This diesel Land Cruiser is rusty. In fact, despite the fact that it actually looks decent from afar, the body is actually so rusted that there aren’t many useable panels left on it. The wheel wells are homemade, as is the bib. Add to that the bizarre bonding of the top to the body, and it’s almost a hopeless case. BUT! As is so often the case with Toyotas, the Banana is mechanically in great condition. It’s very reliable, and recently completed a cross country trip. The frame is solid too, so there’s actually a lot of potential. The Banana could be the base for a body swap / restoration. It also might be a great donor to a different build. It’s got a B series diesel, 4 spd trans, and disc brakes in the front. It even has a great set of 79 and later seats, (which I’ve been begrudginly paying more than for…for ruined ones even!) It’s also got charm, and could be used as is for someone wanting to develop a name for themselves in their town as “a character” I actually really love this rig. It’s had a rich history and several really cool owners. The latest of which served our country in Japan, and I thank him for that. Asking price for the Banana is Call the shop if you are interested! This Land Cruiser actually does look pretty good from a distance, so It’s the kind of cruiser that so so many unscruplous. misleading, dishonest, Land Cruiser and Classic Car resellers misrepresent every day on the internet. Either way, STOP IT with the misleading uneducated buyers into buying your crap. It’s OK to sell something like the Banana, just price it fairly, and be honest about it!

SoldLow Mile Survivor 1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40
How many of these can possibly be left? By that, I mean sub 100K mile, mostly or all original, virtually rust free, late model FJ40s. I bet there are very, VERY few. This particular one, might be number 2 or 3 on the list of the nicest I’ve ever seen. It’s phenomenal, and the more you look, the better it gets. There is virtually no rust anywhere. It’s nearly completely stock, and it’s ready to go. The modifications from original include Vintage Gen IV AC, electric power steering, Rigid Truck Lite headlights, a Retro stereo, and a Tuffy center console. The original components that were removed for these modifications are in boxes in the back. My friend Freddy and the guys at MEO did all of these modifications and lots of maintenance and repairs too for the current owner. It’s important to mention that the odometer stopped working in 2021. The owner reports to have “barely driven it” since, estimating that he added less than 150 miles to the vehicle. Sold1997 FZJ80 Collector’s Edition with less than 100K miles
FZJ80s with fewer than 100,ooo miles are a rare find. They are such good drivers, most of them have nearly 300K on them by now. This excellent example of the iconic 80 series Land Cruiser was in the shop for a full inspection and correction of minor issues about 3000 miles ago. It received new tires and a full service at the time. It has all it’s original paint and interior. Even though this LC is a collectors edition, it doesn’t have factory differential lockers. This 1984 FJ60 has been owned by its current family for three decades. it has been used and loved and thankfully unaltered. It has under 156k miles on it, and runs and drives great. There is rust on both quarter panels that should be addressed, but it is limited to those areas and is largely rust free elsewhere. No rust on the A pillars or roof and the frame is solid. This Fj60 is honest and priced fairly. Much better to buy this one than to buy something for twice as much and realize later that lots of rust or damage has been covered. Sold1997 Lexus LX450
This 1997 Lexus is new to our inventory, so more pictures are on the way. It was purchased by PRLC and inspected in the shop. Several repairs were made (see invoice in photos for details) but some were deferred to keep the Land Cruiser affordable. Remaining issues are an airbag and ABS light, a half working OEM stereo, and some rust on the rear hatch and above the windshield. The frame and suspension of this Land Cruiser do have surface rust, but no structural damage from the rust is present. It’s a solid example. The mystery of this Land Cruiser is that Carfax shows it as a one owner vehicle, but for some reason it received a “corrected” title in Utah. A corrected title is NOT a salvage or rebuilt from salvage title, and this vehicle shows no signs of being in a major accident. Corrected titles are usually the result of a name or owner change, or a change in the details of the paperwork for the vehicle. It does not reflect badly on the vehicle. This vehicle is located at PRLC and is available for inspection during business hours. Of course, interested parties can contact the shop for information.
Sold1971 FJ40 nicknamed Cyclops
I nicknamed this 1971 FJ40 “Cyclops” because of the headlight (functioning as a reverse light) mounted in an OEM hubcap on the spare tire. Except for a little too much tampering by one of the previous owners, Cyclops is an excellent start to a project or restoration. This FJ40 is SOLID. It’s got very little rust (legitimately) and is very straight. The doors are awesome, probably the best I’ve seen. The biggest bummer about the body is the top. It’s a little beat up, and it’s been vandalized by someone installing not one but two sunroofs. The rain gutter is beat up enough where the right fix is a new one, and a new fiberglass roof to match. The other body bummer is the dash. It has been set up to resemble a cockpit, most likely by the sunroof installer. This is one of my pet peeves, and an upcoming STOP IT! FJ40s are not airplanes! I could mention the wheels as a stop it too, but that’s easy enough to change. This FJ40 has been sitting for a few years. We spent couple of hours on it and got it running again, but of course it’s going to take some work to make it driver. We stopped because while it’s nice to say it’s running, the new owner might want to modernize it some, so any work to the existing drivetrain might be for nothing. I’d really like to restore this Land Cruiser, so I’m offering a discount on the price if we build it for the new owner. (There is a process for this, and of course, a waiting list) The price listed on this page is the price if the buyer takes it. What is a survivor, classic vehicle? It’s one that’s managed to evade the seemingly inevitable rust, modifications, accidents, and bad ownership that leads to the death of most vehicles. They’re rare because the circumstances have to be just right for a long time to produce one. It’s getting really hard to find FJ60s that meet these criteria. For me, to be a perfect survivor, a Land Cruiser has to have all of its original components (drivetrain, interior, and paint) and be virtually unmodified. There also needs to be very little if no damage or rust. It’s a tough ask, and there aren’t many. This FJ60 comes very close to meeting all of the criteria above. We are offering for sale this FJ40, owned by a local customer from almost 20 years ago. It was a father/son build with some of the work being done by the owners and some of the work being done by Proffitt’s. The owner that we did work for sold the vehicle to the current owner six or seven years ago. It appears as if the Land Cruiser sat for most of that time. This is sort of a dated project for us and there are a few things on it that we wouldn’t dream of doing today. The seats and aluminum wheels being the first to jump out at me. Luckily though, even back then we were interested in preserving as much Toyota DNA as possible and we swapped in a 3FE instead of a V8 (phew!). If memory serves, this Land Cruiser was in and out of the shop over a four or five year period as the owner continued to add improvements or driving off road. Because of their rarity, The US Spec 1983 FJ40 has been called “The Holy Grail of Land Cruisers” Examples of them rarely come up for sale, and when they do, they don’t last long. There were only about 300 of them sold in the US, and less than 50 of those had both factory options of power steering and air conditioning. It’s impossible to know how many of the original 300 remain, but it’s easy to imagine that most of them have been destroyed, modified, or compromised in some way. That’s why many enthusiasts consider the model to be the most collectible four-wheel-drive of all time. Sold1982 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40
Late model FJ40s like this one are getting hard to find, and I believe this one is a great restoration candidate. As usual, my policy is to be 100 percent honest about the Land Cruisers we sell, so here goes! This particular one is a little confusing to me. It’s got rust, but not terrible rust, and not in the usual places. The exterior has been resprayed at some point (and there is peeling clear coat), but I can tell that there was very little to no rust or body damage back when the refinish was done. Currently, the worst rust is the rain gutter between the top fiberglass cap and the top sides. The gutter looks bad, and normally if the rain gutter is this rusty, the rest of the rig is really bad, but that is NOT the case with this one. This rain gutter is available aftermarket. There is also rust on the driver side rear quarter panel. The cause of this rust is easily identified as the previously mentioned rain gutter, as evidence of water leaking down and pooling on the rear quarter panel pinch weld is present. There is also a little rust on the passenger side cowl to body panel seam, and the hood. What’s interesting is that some of the most commonly rusted areas, such as the driver and passenger side floor panels, the wheel wells in the back, the bottoms of the doors, and the rear sill are still solid. All in all, this is an FJ40 that I think is an honest truck, and isn’t hiding tons of unknown damage. I have personally driven the vehicle, and although a mechanical inspection hasn’t yet been performed, I was happy with the way it ran and drove. I’ve seen several FJ40s sell on the internet lately for around this price that weren’t any where near the quality of this one. Did you know that Toyota made boats? They did! From 1999-2001, Toyota made premium ski boats right here in the United States. The program was very successful, but a couple of unfortunate circumstances led to the shutdown of the program in 2001. Truly a bummer for water sports lovers like me. My definition includes that in order to be in the survivor category, a Land Cruiser has to have escaped most of the tinkering and modifications that are all too often performed by many hands over the years of the car’s ownership. Because so many of us like to make a vehicle represent us more once we own it, it’s getting harder to find Land Cruisers that haven’t been modified, built, or restored. When one pops up, it’s usually a cool discovery. The reason we find its exciting is that an unmodified Land Cruiser is a like a window into the past. They are a way for us to see exactly the way Toyota did things. Vehicles like this also tell us lots of stories. Dents and scratches, and in this case, even a broken jack handle, can all tell us of the adventures that the vehicle saw. This FJ40 has all of the above. There are a couple of modifications, the standard CB antenna mount that all FJ40s seem to have gotten at one point or another, the poorly placed aftermarket antenna, the white spoke wagon wheels, and in this case, the dreaded and unspeakable upside down bezel. But all of these modifications are small. That and the fact that this vehicle has almost no mechanical or body alterations, and even had the original tool kit under the seat, means we can still confidently call this FJ40 a survivor. A funny side-note is that this FJ40 got a Grateful Dead sticker instead of the standard NRA sticker, proof that people from both sides of the political spectrum love Land Cruisers! Read below for details. An aside…The upside down bezel…has been the aggravation of many a true Toyota Land Cruiser enthusiast for years. This sort of common faux pas of mounting the iconic FJ40 bezel with the thick side down is a sure sign of total ineptitude and ignorance by the installer…or so we like to think. Kurt Williams, hopefully just playing the devil’s advocate, has argued the point with me a couple of times. It’s true, there is early Toyota literature with illustrations of FJ40s with the bezel indeed mounted what we consider as upside down. That orientation of the bezel however results in the TOYOTA logo being uncentered top to bottom in the space. It looks funny and out of proportion and there’s no way Toyota intended it to be that way. And if you need further proof, the 1962 FJ40 bezel actually had Land Cruiser stamped in it. If that bezel had been mounted the way it is on this FJ40, the text would have been upside down. So how does this happen? I have 2 reasons why I think it happens, but I’m sure there are many more. One, the bezel must be removed to change or aim the headlights. It’s not unreasonable to imagine that the orientation could be confused upon reassembly by accident. That’s probably what happened with this 40. It’s got one original headlight and one replacement. The other common thing I’ve seen is the bezel installed upside down for use as a license plate mount, with two holes drilled in the thicker part of the frame to hang a plate off of. As to the early Toyota literature with the upside down bezel? I wager that the installer of the bezel on the cruiser in those photos had to practice Hansei for an extended period of time.
Sold1982 FJ43 Stage 2 Plus Restoration
This FJ43 came up from Colombia about 8 years ago. The owner had us perform a stage 2 restoration with some custom upgrades. The restoration has held up pretty well, but a few small body issues have surfaced. These areas will be addressed before the new owner takes possession of the vehicle. This FJ43 is currently for sale on Bring A Trailer. We’ve marked it “out of stock” for the auction. But it is available on BAT Up for sale is a local’s 1979 FJ43. The vehicle was restored in Colombia under unique circumstances as the owner (an employee of the US government) was physically present in Colombia for the restoration. Those of you who are familiar with restorations from South America know that it’s very difficult to know exactly what you are going to get when purchasing a vehicle form there. We’ve seen relatively nice ones, ranging through complete horror story piles of sh*t coming from south of the boarder, so it’s important to know what you are getting into when considering one. This FJ43 has a few small issues (identified in the description), but with the owner knowing the Land Cruiser and the culture, he was able to oversee the build to prevent many of the common shortcuts you see on rigs like this. Sold1989 FJ62 Land Cruiser, 5 speed, Low miles
This low mile example of an FJ62 is rust free with a very straight body. The transmission was professionally converted from the automatic to a Toyota five speed manual by TLC in California. Presumably at the same time, the interior was redone, and the body was refinished from beige, to dark copper metallic. There are numerous rock chips in the paint, revealing the original color. Sold1971 FJ40 Resto-mod
This 1971 FJ40 was one of our very builds from over 20 years ago. It was built for a local gentleman who thought he wanted to get into “wheeling” but never did. The vehicle sat in his warehouse with very little use for 16 years. When the owner decided to liquidate his collection, we pulled it out and gave it some updates for its new owner. Those updates included the SUA shackle reversal and 2.5″ OME lift, updated bumpers and seats, and a few other items including OEM wheels and new 33X10.50 BFGs. The new owner used it at his home in Maui for the last 5 years. Now, unfortunately, health issues have compelled the owner to sell the Land Cruiser. Even though this is a dated resto-mod, and doesn’t reflect many of the materials and techniques we use today, the updates that it does have and the extremely limited use make it a great little cruiser for someone wanting a GM powered custom FJ40. I think if it were mine, I’d change out the old school gauges to Dakota Digital, update the stereo to one with bluetooth, and start putting some miles it! The EMP 40 is the latest of our shop builds and needs to find a home to make room for the next creation. This vehicle was one that I had built in my head so many times, that it needed to come to reality, so we did it! (and had a lot of fun in the process) The concept was to keep the the build simple and utilitarian, but with ultra high quality and attention to detail. Even though we don’t anticipate it happening, this unique, military themed FJ40 would likely withstand the effects of an EMP attack. 1974 was the one of the transition years for Toyota Land Cruisers. It was the last year of the 1F engine and the first year featuring a 4 speed transmission. Toyota redesigned the rear of the frame to accommodate the newer style rectangular taillights that were used for the next 10 years. 1974 is also the last year of the 2 piece front doors as well as the 1/2 high swing out doors in the rear.
Sold1977 FJ40 Nickname “Grusty” (Green and Rusty)
Grusty the FJ40 is a testament to just how durable (mechanically) Toyota Land Cruisers are. Bought to be a potential parts 40, I quickly discovered that this rig needs to stay on the road. Even though it’s completely rusted out, it still runs and drives like a champ! It’s got all of its original Toyota DNA (except for the white spokes) and, well A LOT of character. Grusty is actually a decent candidate for a build using an aftermarket 3/4 tub like from Aqualu or CCOT (maybe even Sophia Lee if you are curious about her parts) This FJ40s body is really really rusty, but the cowling, the base for any restoration with an aftermarket body tub, is actually pretty good. It’s got the standard rust around the a pillar floor (mostly on the driver side) that lots of them have, but it’s fixable. The frame is also surprisingly very solid, even better than some with better bodies. The rear frame channel is going to need to be replaced, but not because of rust, just that it was hit or backed into something at some point. On top of that, its a running / driving later FJ40 with a 2F, 4spd, disc brakes, bucket seats, and all of the other things that made later 70s 40s so desirable. With exception of the hood, all of the other body parts on this FJ40 are probably not useable (unless you are very ambitions). Grusty has a clean title and is ready to go to his new home. We are helping a client sell this 1969 FJ40. The FJ40 was rebuilt/restored at some point in the past. The restoration is of average quality, not high end. The body was off during the restoration and the frame was painted or powdercoated. The underside and inside of the body are finished with some type of spray liner. The Rustic Green OEM color paint is fading, but with some polishing, would still look presentable. Mechanically, the FJ40 is stock except for the addition of Saginaw power steering. We haven’t driven or inspected the vehicle but it does run/drive. Aftermarket editions to the cruiser include, A custom front bumper and 10,000lb Warn winch, a Man-A-Fre rear bumper, and a homemade roll bar inside. Overall this would be a good start to a project cruiser. Our recommendations would be to change out the drivetrain to a newer Toyota 2F and 4speed, the vehicle also needs a power disk brake conversion. Sold1994 DIESEL FZJ80
I have up for sale my US spec 1994 Toyota Land Cruiser. This truck has factory lockers, new 1HZ diesel engine conversion, new Toyota manual 5-speed transmission, Safari turbo with intercooler and many more factory Toyota parts. I purchased this truck in 2005 from my hometown in California and brought it out to Virginia Beach, Va. It is a rust free example that has always been in the south free of salt and snow. This Cruiser is professionally detailed on a regular basis and the original paint and interior are in great condition. Two years ago, I sent the truck out to Proffit’s Resurrection Land Cruisers for a new 1HZ engine, new 5 speed transmission and locking front hubs with push button 4wd conversion. A couple months after the build was completed I lusted for a little more acceleration and had a local Cruiser shop install the Safari turbo and intercooler. This truck runs and drives like a factory truck, has great power and gets more than 18 mpg around town. Other modifications to the truck include TJM front bumper, Tom Woods rear drive shaft and Man-A-Fre extended range fuel tank. Recent maintenance and finishing repairs include; front axle rebuild, axle bearings, knuckle rebuild, new windshield wiper arms, rain gutter moldings, Toyota sunroof, and powder coated factory wheels. I have always used factory Toyota parts when available. The truck currently has 229,000 miles and is daily driven. The diesel conversion was done at 218,000 miles putting roughly 11,000 miles on the new drivetrain conversion. Third row seats have been stored and will be included in the sale along with all receipts/documentation of maintenance, repairs and conversion expenses (please see pics). Sold1977 FJ45 Pickup (Middle East Spec)
This fairly unmolested FJ45 pickup is a great start to a restoration or build. It’s got its issues, but is in far better shape than most FJ45s out there. It still has its original 2F and 4 speed, which runs but needs a little attention because it’s been sitting awhile. The bed is a new reproduction bed with no rust or damage. The cab does have rust, poorly repaired at some point, but still very minor compared to most 45s. All in all, it’s a great example of a later FJ45. This truck shouldn’t last long at the price the owner is asking. The truck is located at PRLC and is available for inspection during business hours.
